Insured Risks and Damage/Exclusions
The exhibition insurance is valid during transport to and from the fair as well as during storage on the exhibition grounds (up to 30 days) and covers all risks as stated in the General Terms and Conditions for Exhibition Insurance as well as following special conditions and clauses:
- General Terms and Conditions for Exhibition Insurance (AVB Ausstellung 1988/2008) TR 3.301 (05.11 - Version 10.23))

The insurance policy especially covers accidents involving the means of transportation, natural events, fire and water damage, burglary, theft, loss, vandalism, and malicious damage.
Breakage is also covered.
This policy excludes damage to paintwork. The costs to repair surface damage of this nature (e.g. spackling, painting, enameling ) will be reimbursed by the insurer only if the surface damage is directly associated with an accident involving the transportation vehicle or other claimable damage pursuant to the terms and conditions of the policy.
Software, software tables/design drawings, educational materials, and models are covered for replacement up to the value of their production cost, excluding any costs incurred for restoration/repairs; otherwise, their replacement value equals the cost of materials.
Development and testing costs for prototypes are not covered.
This policy does not cover any damage caused during operation or demonstration of exhibits or any third-party liability.
The policy excludes coverage against weathering of exhibits kept on the open-air site; theft or loss of parts or accessories is also excluded.
Hidden damages or defects (e.g. non-functionality, short circuit) are not covered, unless these arise from an insured risk.
The personal property of stand representatives and other employees deployed at the exhibition shall only be insured during their stay on the exhibition grounds and only against losses and damage caused by accidents involving means of transport, fire, lightning, explosion, force majeure, tap water, theft and burglary
Cash, securities, jewelry, natural furs, cameras/photography equipment, audio recorders/players, radios, smartphones or items of value are not insured.
Loss due to theft is not covered during self-transportation in a truck, unless a designated escort is present.
Exhibits and accessories that are left in containers or packaging and stored during the fair at the carriers are not insured.
Notwithstanding contributory causes and other provisions, any form of damage arising from acts of terror and any costs associated with such acts are expressly excluded under this policy. An act of terror is defined as any action undertaken by persons or groups of persons for the purpose of achieving political, religious, ethnic, ideological or similar goals, and designed to spread fear and frighten the population or sections thereof and thereby influence a government or public institution. The policy also excludes hazards stemming from the use of chemical, biological, biochemical substances, or electromagnetic waves as weapons to endanger the public.
Duties
Exhibitors shall observe all official requirements. During visiting hours, each exhibitor shall keep an eye on his fair goods/exhibits or hire someone to do so, keep high value items in a showcase or in other cabinets or secure these items with concealed fasteners and, to the extent possible and deemed reasonable, keep these items safe outside visiting hours in spaces specially provided for them.
At the end of the exhibition, each exhibitor shall exercise the diligence of a prudent business professional, for example, during dismantling of the stand and loading of the fair goods/exhibits for return shipment.
In particular, each exhibitor shall ensure that the loading of goods is monitored after the exhibition stand is dismantled.
This policy does not cover any claims arising from malicious breach of the insured party¿s duties under this policy. In the event of gross culpability of the insured party in connection with its duties hereunder, the insurer shall be entitled to curtail coverage in proportion to the degree of culpability of the insured party. The onus of proof shall be upon the insured party to show lack of gross culpability on its part.
Deductible
Claims of less than EUR 50 for foodstuffs intended for consumption at stands will not be reimbursed.
Damage Notification/Claims
Claims under this policy must be filed promptly with the insurer. In addition, the police must be notified of any theft. Claims of theft on the exhibition grounds will be accepted for processing only if reported before the grounds are cleared.
The carrier must be called in immediately to assess the extent of any damage caused during transportation, even if the damage is detected after unpacking the goods (home negotiation) . A notice of liability shall be issued.
A waiver of recourse against the carrier is impermissible and encroaches upon the rights of the exhibitor under this policy.
Upon request, the insured party shall provide the insurer with a complete list of his fair goods/exhibits and their respective values.
In cases of doubt, the Landschaftliche Brandkasse in Hannover will provide information on the scope and nature of the policy.
